HAPPPPYYYYY HOLIDAYYYYSSSS !!!!

It’s my absolute favorite time of year!! I put so much extra thought during this month into decorations, planning, presents, etc!  A new purse or pair of heels can be great- But I ultimately think the gift of knowledge & health is the longest lasting, most valuable thing you can do for any of your loved ones- with that being said, I’d like to share my number one gift suggestion for this holiday season!

I introduce to you, Annie’s Organic Buying Club. When I first began the whole health craze of juicing and green smoothies I was literally spending thousands at Whole Foods a month- insane I know-

(… I contribute most of my craziness to reading Kimberley Snyder’s The Beauty Detox solution, I still highly recommend the book, but some of the things I felt I “needed” like magnesium oxygen supplements were so rare & hard to find that even living in a big city I had to search the web & order them online !!) Not an easy breezy lifestyle to follow- I admit I was caught up.

After realizing that was a ridiculous grocery bill for a household of 2 people + a bulldog I began to search high & low for alternatives because at this point I basically had to ban myself from going to Whole Foods. As much as growing everything I needed in a garden appealed to me that was unrealistic because I live in a condo on the beach. That’s when my online searching led me to Annie’s Organic Buying Club- a miracle & a life saver!

A buying club is basically a group of  people that keep the cost of produce low. There is no membership fee or contract with the buying club, you simply pay  for your produce at drastically reduced prices- that’s it!

There are many different options that you can customize to your preferences, I pay $50 for a full share bi-weekly. We get SO much fresh organic produce that we never use it all in 2 weeks ! For example this is what I will be picking up next Monday:

  • Local Oranges or other Citrus
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Bananas
  • Spinach
  • Fennel (probably only in Herb share)
  • Red Cabbage
  • Collard Greens or another leafy green
  • Red Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Beans
  • Hass Avocados
  • Red Beets
  • Onions
  • Hard Squash – Butternut or Delicata
  • Herbs: Thyme, Fennel, Lemon

You can even get add on’s like juicers delight, or paleo.  Annie’s posts what your share will include for the upcoming week online. They make a great effort at substituting & swapping things you don’t want for things you do- ex. no red cabbage, extra spinach.

My pick up day is on Monday’s &  the south beach coordinator is right around the corner from me so it’s super easy to swing by &  pick up my share-

I have enjoyed every single minute of Annie’s. I highly recommend giving someone you love the gift of fresh local organic foods by pre-paying for a few weeks or a month! I have introduced so many close friends to the program & now they’re eating healthy & great things! It can be entertaining because it introduces you to veggies & fruits you’ve never even heard of or that you were too intimidated to buy from the store.

If you don’t live anywhere in Florida email Annie’s & ask for recommendations about local co-ops in your area even a quick google search will usually find one- if not, then how about starting your own ; )
